F1 pre-season testing to begin from 23rd February
Testing will take place at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and at the Sakhir Circuit as well.
F1 has announced the dates and venues for F1 pre-season testing in 2022, and they’re no different than what was envisaged at the end of the 2021 season! The Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya and Sakhir Circuit will be the venues for the tests, though there will be a difference between both.
The test in Spain at Barcelona won’t be broadcast live, as has been a tradition for the first test of each calendar year. Only the testing lap times and some content will be broadcast, and there will be no live coverage as such. It will be the first glance we get at the 2022 team’s cars, and will be the first time the cars are shaken down on-track.
The second test in Bahrain at Sakhir will be broadcast on F1TV between March 10-12, just over a week before the actual race weekend on 18-20 March. There will be live coverage and timing, and even fans will be allowed entry to watch the cars being pushed around the circuit.
It is the beginning of a new era for F1– larger tyres, easier to follow cars, 3D floors, a record 23 races in a single year and more will certainly make this season a classic. Pre-season testing will herald the beginning of this, and will certainly lay down the marker for all future years to come!
