Tata has opened bookings for the Altroz DCA (Dual Clutch Automatic) with an upfront payment of Rs 21,000. Yes you heard it right, the Altroz is finally going fully automatic with not a CVT or AMT but full fledged DCT. It is expected that the prices will be officially unveiled by sometime in the middle of March and deliveries should also follow suit not long after. If you ask me, the prices will be about 75-80k higher than the manual variant but it is undoubtedly reasonable compared to a 60k price jump for a measly AMT. Tata is officially going full premium with their “premium” hatchback.
As we know, the DCT will also be offered in Tata’s signature “Dark” variant and the DCT will only be available in XT, XZ and XZ+ variants. Engine options are expected to remain the same, with a base 1.2L petrol engine thrusting the car forward and which is expected to continue to be the workhorse with this automatic version as well.
The chief rivals of the new Altroz will be the i20 and all-new Baleno, and hence the competition for it is stiff. We have compared all 3 head-to-head; do read it by clicking here.
