Toyota teases their upcoming Urban-Cruiser Hyryder – To rival Creta, Seltos

Toyota is teasing the car as a self-charging hybrid electric SUV... sounds interesting!

Toyota India is gearing up to launch its highly-anticipated Creta rival, the Hyryder and has released a teaser video and a few images regarding the same as well. Thanks to this, we can ascertain some important details about the exterior of the car prior to its launch.

For starters, the front fascia is quite striking by design, with a honeycomb-like grille design and horizontally-placed DRLs featuring prominently on the front. The Toyota logo is neatly placed in the center, while chrome lines extend from the logo almost all the way to the headlights, creating an illusion of one long, continuous design.

At the rear, the chrome strips make a return but this time they encase the logo at the rear in a teardrop-like design, and they extend till what seem to be the inverted C-shaped headlights. We can also see a rear wiper in the image, and the small opening directly below the logo also seems to indicate toward a rear parking camera being present, at least on the upper variants of the car.

Of course, we can expect a premium interior which will likely be on par with the upcoming Brezza considering how these two cars are siblings – same basic DNA, but a different exterior! A mild-hybrid system is expected, though a full hybrid powertrain might also make its way in the future. It will likely be paired with a 6-speed automatic and manual, though full details are yet to be confirmed.

These teaser images do link up with the recently-seen spyshots which came into light about two weeks ago, revealing the car’s entire front-end design. The Hyryder name also conforms to the reports of Toyota registering this name as a trademark. Over the next few days we can expect many such teasers, and tentatively at the start of July we could see a full unveil of what is certain to be a highly-anticipated car in this Indian market!
