2021 Tata Safari to receive two different seating layouts
Tata's flagship SUV is living up-to its name; creating hype amongst the buyers
Nowadays, it seems in India, people are concerned only about a couple of things – India v Australia Test results, and Tata Motors’ 2021 Safari. For the latter though, the hype is so real and enormous, that almost every other week Tata is releasing more about its soon-to-arrive flagship SUV.
Next on our website regarding Tata’s 2021 Safari is this – the new SUV will reach the showroom floors with two different seating layouts. As we are nearing the launch, Tata, through the latest teaser, has revealed that the Safari will come with captain seats for the middle row. Excited much, buyers?
Tata Motors has always stressed about the Safari being a genuine 7-seater, meaning that the SUV will also receive a proper 7-seat layout. It must be noted that Gravitas, as seen at the Auto Expo 2020, also came with a 6-seater layout with captain seats in the middle row. However, Safari always had to be a proper 7-seater SUV as an ode to the original.
As for the variants, Tata is expected to launch the Safari in three or four variants initially, and then add/remove according to customer demand down the road. We say, there could even be Black Edition and Camo Edition of the Safari, just as we have for the Harrier. Ooh-la-la!
Considering that the all-new Safari will sit on top of the Indian automaker’s SUV range, it is safe to assume that the new SUV will be feature-rich and is expected to replicate the top-spec of its younger-sibling, Harrier. An Electronic Parking Brake and a Panoramic Sunroof will be added to the already-illustrious list of features of the 2021 Safari.
Talking about our options on the powertrain side, the Safari will get the Fiat-sourced 2.0L Kryotec diesel motor (powering the Harrier) making nearly 170hp. The engine will be mated to either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed Torque Convertor.
2021 Safari is expected to cost a bit more than the Harrier and is set to go up against MG’s Hector Plus, along with Mahindra’s next-gen XUV 500, and Hyundai’s 7-seater Creta, when they arrive.
