Land Rover launches BS6-compliant Evoque with price lower than BS4 counterpart
Land Rover’s 2nd Generation Evoque has finally arrived in India! The model is built on the Premium Transverse Architecture. Not only has it been made more spacious on the inside, but each component is proportioned extremely well when compared to the outgoing model. The cargo space has been improved as well. Bonus point? If the rear seats are folded then it expands to a swooping 1430 liters! This new generation version shares its styling components with the bigger Velar and is one of the highest-selling models of the brand.
Before we dive into the specifications of the engine, let’s take a quick glance at the price. The BS6 variant (the new-gen) is priced from ₹54.94 lakhs which is around ₹3 lakhs more than the BS4 variant. However, there is an interesting twist in the pricing of the model this time. The top variant of the BS4 model was priced at ₹63 lakhs while the top variant of the BS6 is priced at ₹59.85 lakhs. A drop in the price with an upgraded engine set, this is the poster car for the win-win category!
Alright then, now it’s time to talk about the engine which is the most interesting category for gear heads. The BS6 compliant model comes with 2.0L Ingenium Petrol and Diesel engines. The petrol motor along with a mild-hybrid system delivers a power of 247bhp along with a torque of 365Nm. On the other hand, the diesel motor delivers a torque of 430Nm along with 178bhp. All the power we just mentioned gets sent to all 4 wheels via the 9-speed auto-transmission! However, this isn’t the first model in which the 2.0L Ingenium diesel and petrol engines were introduced. It was first seen in the Jaguar XE during December 2019.
The interior of the model includes a built-in navigation system along with a Touch Pro Duo System with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Not only that, there’s an additional 12.3-inch completely digital instrument panel, panoramic sunroof, head-up display (HUD), powered tailgate, and heated front seats which can be adjusted electrically. These features will definitely appeal to the consumers who love to travel in comfort and in style!
The exterior of the model boasts of LED headlamps and tail lamps, flush door handles, bumper updates, and a mesh grille. However, the sides have a look that is similar to the previous model. Another technology that has been added is the ClearSight Ground View. This is in fact extremely useful on Indian roads. The technology allows the driver to have a proper view of the space under the hood and front with a 180-degree ground view. There is a rear-facing HDR camera that is mounted to the roof for the rear camera feed. Finally, the gear shift has also been given slight improvements. Now it is a mixture of traditional and modern!
The model is available in Kaikura Stone, Fuji White, Santorini Black, Firenze Red, Silicon Silver, and Tiger Grey. Not only is the interior of the model fancy, but so are the names of the color it’ll be available in!
Deliveries for the diesel variant of the Evoque begins as we speak, while the delivery of the petrol counterpart will begin soon! The company has claimed that they are definitely ready with BSVI and the Indian market will see the Land Rover Defender and the Jaguar I-Pace BSVI very soon.
