Jaguar Land Rover introduces 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR in India

The Premium SUV is powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine generating 575 hp and 700 Nm of torque. It has a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint timing of just 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 283kmph.

Land Rover India has been slowly strengthening its Indian lineup lately. After secretly rolling out the updated Velar a few weeks back, the Tata-owned automaker has announced the introduction of the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR in India. Claimed to be the fastest and the most powerful Range Rover ever produced by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations, the Sport SVR will be available at a starting price of Rs 2.19 crore (ex-showroom, pan India). The updated SUV comes with some cosmetic tweaks and chassis enhancements, resulting in improved handling and aerodynamics.

The SUV is powered by the SVR’s range-topping 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine that churns out 575 hp and 700 Nm of torque. It has a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint timing of just 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 283kmph.

With all that muscle power under the hood, the exteriors also get subtle changes, like a reprofiled front bumper design with vents designed to improve brake cooling. The braking system itself gets performance brake pads and discs for enhanced performance at higher temperatures. The contrasting black roof and body-coloured detailing at the rear also helps to identify the SVR, and so does the SVR badging.

The fully grown SUV also gets enhanced cornering capabilities and better body control, thanks to the special damping hardware. The Range Rover Sport SVR flaunts Pixel LED headlights with signature DRLs and the whole frame sits on 21-inch five split-spoke alloy wheels.

Designed, engineered, and developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations, the luxury performance SUV is hand-finished in Coventry, UK. The Sport SVR is not just the fastest Range Rover, but Land Rover also retained the refinement, luxury, and off-road capability for which the brand is world-renowned. There are distinguishable SVR features even on the inside.

The cabin of the Range Rover Sport SVR has lightweight SVR Performance seats. Finished in high-quality perforated Windsor leather, these seats create an athletic silhouette and are claimed to provide exceptional comfort on long journeys. The back of the seats are finished in satin black with an embossed SVR logo on the headrests. The supportive heated front and rear seats also create more rear legroom and give the cabin an impression of a cosseting four-seater interior, while retaining flexible five-seat capability.

The luxury cabin gets further complementing premium elements like Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, 19-speaker Meridian surround sound system, driver condition monitor, auto-dimming IRVM, configurable ambient lighting, panoramic sun-roof, three-zone climate control, head-up display, and a 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster and 360-degree parking aid.

Rohit Suri, President and Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India, said, “Range Rover SVR redefines & further elevates performance and luxury in an SUV by leveraging the best of bespoke British design and engineering. I am sure that Range Rover Sport SUV enthusiasts and fans will simply love this latest offering combining formidable British engineering craftsmanship with high end and refined luxury.”

The Range Rover Sport SVR goes up against the Audi RS Q8, the BMW X5 M Competition and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53.

Land Rover India’s product portfolio now includes the Range Rover Evoque (starting at Rs 59.04 Lakh), Discovery Sport (starting at Rs 65.30 Lakh), 2021 Range Rover Velar (starting at Rs 79.87 Lakh), Defender 110 (starting at Rs 83.38 Lakh), Range Rover Sport (starting at Rs 91.27 Lakh), Range Rover (starting at Rs 2.11 Crore) and Range Rover Sport SVR (starting at Rs 2.19 Crore).
