Tata Nexon BS6 facelift launched! Prices starting from Rs. 6.95 lakhs

Tata Motors launched the Nexon with both BS6 diesel and petrol engines and you can expect the electric counterpart will be available from January 28th.

The launch of the Nexon facelift was done at the Altroz launch event. The price of the petrol engine starts from ₹6.95 lakhs and the diesel engine is priced at ₹8.45 lakhs (ex showroom prices). Even though there is a significant hike in the price for both models, I think the updates w.r.t. features and styling justifies the price hike!

The Nexon now comes with sharper looking head lamps, fog lamp housings with an updated touch, grilles which are sleeker, new front bumper and updated LED DRLs. The design follows the design of the Nexon EV, making both the cars in line with the IMPACT 2.0 design.

Additionally, the Nexon comes with a fresh set of diamond cut dual tone alloy wheels. However, the changes to the sides and the rear are not as significant. These changes on the outside already give the Nexon a much cleaner look for an SUV than its outgoing model, which had kind of a bulky look to it.

The 2020 version of the Nexon comes with the updated and BS6 compliant 1.5L diesel and 1.2L petrol engines. The petrol engine dishes out a maximum torque of 170 Nm along with 110 PS while the diesel engine reaches the torque summit at 260 Nm with 110 PS. About transmissions, customers will have a choice between an automatic and 6-speed manual for both types of engine, just like before.

Now, about the interior updates which is the justification for the price hike. The Nexon now comes with connected-car technology in the top-end trims and a sunroof.  Both XZA+(O) and XZ+(O) come with e-SIM which is a gateway to numerous possibilities for connected car features. Customers can now use their smart phones to unlock/lock their cars, share the vehicle’s live location, and turn on the AC owing to Tata’s iRA (connected car suite). The iRA stands for Intelligent Real Time Assist. Overall the Nexon comes with a total of 35 connected car features.

The Nexon has become a fan favourite within the Indian car market ever since its launch. The sales have been hitting new numbers each month. Additionally, with the 5-star safety rating by Global NCAP in their crash test, the model gained a significant increase in its fan base. The Tata Nexon will continue to give models such as the Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, Ford Ecosport and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, a run for their money. It looks like Tata has already set its sights in beating the upcoming sub 4-metre SUV models from Renault and Kia Motors as well.
