The waiting period for the Toyota Land Cruiser is… 4 YEARS!!!

Toyota Japan has stated that they would do their best to reduce the waiting period.

Imagine acquiring all the funds to book your dream car. Imagine going to the dealership to book it. You are overjoyed and happy, expecting that the car will reach you in a few weeks time. You go to the dealer, and hand him the booking amount. With guilt on his face, he thanks you for the same. You ask the question: “So how long will it take for the car to be delivered? 4 weeks? Month and a half?”. He replies with hesitation, “4 years”.

Shocked to the core, all the money you saved up for the car ends up going into the hospital funds due to the heart attack you just had after hearing all this! Apologies for the exaggeration but this is what I felt when I checked and rechecked that the waiting period for Toyota’s all time legendary SUV Land-cruiser is 4 YEARS in Japan.

Toyota put out a glum statement, in which they said that deliveries could take as long as 4 years to be fulfiled!

We sincerely apologize for the fact that
Land Cruiser has been very well received not only in Japan but also around the world, and it is expected that it will take a long time to deliver it after receiving an order.

The delivery time for ordering from now on may be about 4 years.
We will do our utmost to shorten the delivery time of our customers, and we appreciate your understanding.

This might well be the longest waiting period for any car in recent history, though Toyota has said that the situation could well change in the future provided production can resume at a faster pace. The car might be quite something, though this announcement could certainly scare away potential customers!

While 4 years might be a LONG time to wait for a car like LandCruiser, it still is less than the time it takes for certain companies to launch their cars in India. Cough cough… VW Polo. Also, remember that quote on posters “It takes 16 hours to build a Toyota and 6 months for a Rolls”, well now you have a better chance of getting a Rolls Royce Cullinan before a Landcruiser. In your face Rolls Royce!
