BREAKING! Pierre Gasly extends contract with Alpha-Tauri for 2023
While this news isn't exactly a shocker, we can finally end the rumors of Pierre replacing Ricciardo at Mclaren next year.
Formula 1 team Scuderia Alpha-Tauri have finally confirmed that they have extended the contact of Pierre Gasly for the year 2023. While this news isn’t exactly a shocker, we can finally end the rumors of Pierre replacing Ricciardo at Mclaren next year. The young Frenchman didn’t have too many options for next year to begin with. Max Verstappen is at Red Bull until the end of 2028 and Sergio Perez recently signed a contract extension until 2024 so, there wasn’t an opportunity for another promotion back to the top team. It is definitely good news for the Frenchman considering he can finally be allowed to leave the RedBull family for another top team as there would be many seats up for grabs come 2024.
Here’s what Pierre had to say, “I have been with this team for five years now, and I am proud of the journey we’ve been through together and the progress we have made. I’m happy to remain with my Scuderia AlphaTauri team next season. This year’s new regulations have created new challenges for us, and being able to plan our development with the team for the next 18 months is a good working basis for the future.” Gasly had a very impressive season last year which shined a light on him being a top-driver for a top team in the future. This year has been a kinda rough ride especially if you set you sights on the Azerbaijan GP. This news though, will definitely motivate his team to smooth out their issues and get back to being competing against the likes of Alpine and Mclaren who have managed to outpace even Mercedes in qualifying this year.
