Lamborghini Aventador Successor spied! To be powered by a hybrid V12

The new car has been spotted testing under wraps, and shares many design elements with the Sian and Huracan.

Car-spotters have recently captured the updated iteration of the upcoming Lamborghini successor and it looks breathtaking, with its aggressive stance and sharp design elements. Though still in camouflage, the car shares a lot of similarities with its predecessors, primarily with the Sian and the Huracan. Images thanks to the good folks at Carbuzz.

Lamborghini Automobili CEO Stephan Winkelmann, had earlier shared his love for the V12, and his desire to maintain the history of the iconic engine. However he admitted that the task would be tough, to cope up with the current emission standards. The new car will be driven by a V12, coupled with hybrid assistance. The hybrid system will be built using super capacitors, as we have seen on the Sian, and will be used to fill in torque gaps during gear shifts. The likes of this have been seen earlier on the McLaren P1 and the Speedtail, and in Porsche 918 Spyder. Although the size of the engine is still unknown, it is rumored to be able to generate upto 1000 hp. This puts the car in direct contention with the Ferrari SF-90 Stradale.  The engine will also be very refined and will be coupled with a Dual Clutch Transmission, which will grant some relief to its buyers, who have always complained about the single clutch gearbox being too clunky.

In terms of design, even under camouflage, from the front it is relatively easy to notice the razor-sharp design elements from the Sian, although the diffuser looks to have been inspired by the Huracan Super Trofeo. The side profile shows new angular doors and bodywork, but the vents seem similar to those from the Centenario, with large slats towards the rear. From the rear, the first thing one notices are the 4 large exhausts, which reminds us of the McLaren 765 LT. Although it is speculated that this won’t be the final exhaust design of the car, as the company had previously confirmed that the upcoming generations of Lamborghini cars would have hexagonal shaped exhausts. The rear diffuser seems similar to that of the Aventador SVJ and the tail lights look Y-shaped or Ypsilon shaped, exactly like the ones in the Centenario.

Overall, the car looks gorgeous and is expected to be revealed officially in 2023, and will succeed the Aventador Ultimae, which was said to be the last naturally-aspirated V12.
