GM sheds light on 12 of the 20 upcoming EVs that would arrive by 2023

Their 2019 sustainability report highlights details of 12 EVs from Chevy, Caddy, GMC and Buick

GM is making power moves in the EV segment following the unveiling of their modular electric vehicle platform with an all new battery pack called Ultium. The largest automaker in the US shares details about 12 of the 20 EVs they have planned to deliver by 2023. Some of these may be immediate releases in the United States whereas others are set to debut directly in China. GM surges forward with the intention to sell 1 million EVs a year. These newcomers will be joining their existing all-electric hatchback, the Chevrolet Bolt.

Cadillac

  • First up we have the previously announced ‘Lyriq’ SUV. This will be Caddy’s first EV.
  • A “globally sized” 3-row SUV with focus on interior space and cargo capability.
  • A large ‘Escalade’ based SUV with full size third row.
  • A small crossover SUV similar to the XT4.
  • An ultra-luxury, hand assembled 4-seater- the Cadillac Celestiq.

GMC

  • The previously advertised Hummer EV SUT outputting a massive 1,000 hp and an acceleration of 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds.
  • A Hummer SUV similar to the truck but with more off-road configuration.

Chevrolet

  • An EUV variant of the Chevy Bolt inspired by the Chevy Blazer .
  • The US will gain a mid-size SUV .
  • An electric truck with focus on utility and 400+ miles of range on a single charge.

Buick

  • A crossover with more conventional proportion that maximizes interior space and cargo.(SUV)
  • Another crossover with “greater emphasis on form and athletic fashion.”(CUV)

The report also mentions the Cruise Origin autonomous vehicle, the first product of their partnership with Honda. With a highly flexible platform that removes conventional physical constraints, GM believes they can focus their efforts on the vehicles’s proportions and creating unique brand persona. The lineup of 20 new EVs is set to push them into an ‘all-electric future’ that aims at zero emissions.
