Next-gen XUV-500 is actually the XUV-700?
Mahindra will launch it in Q2, will be placed between XUV500 and Alturas G4.
And this news comes to us at the date of unveiling of the Hyundai Alcazar. Co-incidence? I think not!
As we reported just a few days back, Veejay Nakra, Mahindra Auto CEO, had confirmed that the upcoming SUVs from Mahindra’s stable will be launched in the Q2 of 2021 while talking to PowerDrift. Now there’s official confirmation from M&M that one of those two upcoming SUVs will be the Mahindra XUV 700 (Seven double-o… double-o seven?). Though, we’re still unclear if it’s the very same vehicle we all were thinking of as the next-gen XUV 500 or a totally new offering.
The new model will be based on the W601 platform and will be placed between the ongoing Mahindra XUV500 and Alturas G4. It’ll be manufactured at the carmakers Chakan facility in Maharashtra and will come with world class safety features. As we said earlier based on Nakra’s interview with PD, the SUV will come with both petrol and diesel engines and will have the option of a manual and automatic transmission as well. It will also come with an optional all-wheel drive (AWD) variant.
Veejay Nakra, CEO, Automotive Division, Mahindra, said, “The XUV700, one of the most awaited offerings from Mahindra is sure to hit the sweet spot with customers. Built on the new W601 platform, XUV700 marks the beginning of the next generation of sophisticated and authentic Mahindra SUVs which will offer an adrenaline rush like never before.”
Mahindra will launch the XUV700 in Between Q2 and Q3 before Diwali.
